My Most Used Items as a New Mom

As my husband and I prepared to welcome our baby boy in the final weeks of my pregnancy, we furnished the nursery and stocked up on the obvious basics, like wipes, diapers, and onesies. We were also lucky enough to have had a baby shower thrown for us by our sweet families at which we received a number of larger, practical items like the Fisher Price Rock N' Play and Baby K'Tan Baby Carrier, which have been lifesavers.

Beyond that, we didn't really what we'd need or find useful. Now, as Luke is nearly one month old and we're finding out groove as new parents, there are a number of simple, everyday items that have been so handy that I hadn't given much thought to beforehand. I'll definitely be restocking and/or saving these items for baby number 2!

These Burp Cloths. As anyone with a newborn knows, they produce a whole lot of spit up. Before Luke arrived, I didn't realize I would be going through 2-3 burp cloths at a minimum on a daily basis. I ordered these burp cloths from Amazon after Luke was born and I love that they are both cute and practical.
Baby Bandana Drool Bibs. These were gifted to us at our baby shower by a mom of three, so she how much use we'd get out of these drool bibs before we did. For now, use them to protect Luke's outfit from all the spit up. However, I understand they will continue to come in handy as he begins to teethe and starts drooling more and more!

Sleep sacks. We had two sleep sacks on hand before Luke was born, but after he wet through his diaper in the middle of the night a few times and we had to change his sleep sack, I quickly realized we needed a couple more. I recently ordered this cotton one and this warmer fleece one from Carters.

Philips AVENT Breast Milk Storage Bags. I had the pump ready to go, but I'm not sure where I thought I was going to store all the breast milk. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime.
Nursing Pads. I didn't realize how much my breasts would leak. Enough said.
Sleep Sheep. I put this on our baby shower registry on a whim because it seemed cute and practical, and we now use it every time we put Luke down to sleep. The white noise soothes him and lets him know it's time to sleep. Just bear in mind that it also puts Adam right to sleep so you may want to skip the white noise machine if you need your husbands help during the night shift!
